Sri Lanka is an island state in the Indian Ocean. But its teas are still known as Ceylon teas. Sri Lanka generates tea throughout the year and the cultivating areas are mainly concentrated in the central highlands and southern inland areas of the island. The most delicate teas grow in the highlands and the best quality harvest is plucked in the east of the Uva district between August to September. Conversely, the best Dimbula Ceylon tea is plucked between January and March. In Nuwara eliya excellent quality teas are harvest in the whole year round since here the monsoon plays a minor role. These teas are not predominantly strong but have a wonderful reddish color .
